Hector Arana Jr (near lane) routed his dad in an all-Arana final in Chicago

I should’ve posted it because I called it to no fewer than a dozen people, including Hector Sr. “It’s an Arana day,” I said after round 1. “The heat, the humidity—it’s an Arana day.” And indeed it was, as the family celebrated Hector Jr’s win over his father in the final.

“I told you it was an Arana day,” I said to Sr in the winners circle. “You’re just the wrong Arana.” He didn’t seem to mind.

Angie Smith (hanging the wheel in the far lane) bested 3X champ Eddie Krawiec for the second weekend in a row. This time around Krawiec redlit. Angie had lane choice against Hector Arana in the semi, and Hector Jr had his pick against Shawn Gann on the other side of the ladder
