The AMA/AHDRA All-American motorcycle drag racing series crowned its third year of champions in the Bill and Crissy Rowe era, despite battling some serious weather set-backs.
The season started with a Gainesville opener that was shortened by shutdown weepers on a beautiful sunny day. A rare Rockingham rain cancellation initiated the first-ever AHDRA/AMRA combined McClure Nationals. And finally, a Florida State of Emergency brought on by Hurricane Nicole canceled the Gainesville Finals. Sometimes, that’s the luck.
But champions persevere, and AHDRA recognizes their best, eighth in a series. Sadly, I couldn’t get either Deshields or DeGrange to respond for interviews.
Nashville racer Kimberly “K-Charm” Deshields (featured photo above) took the Pingel Modified championship with a win at Milan, Cecil County and Rockingham runner-ups, and she was a finalist at the rain-shortened Gainesville opener.
“Pingel Enterprise is pleased to continue our sponsorship of the AHDRA Modified class,” said Donna Pingel. “The schedule has a great lineup of race tracks for the 2023 race season. Wayne and I wish the best for all racers to have a great race season at AHDRA.”

Longtime New Jersey racer Gary DeGrange took the 9.30 championship with a solid start at the rain-shortened Gainesville opener and runner-up finish at Rockingham.
