All-Adams Performance Kawasaki Real Street Final
It was another all-Adams Performance, RS Motorsports, Real Street final at the Fast by Gast Spring Bike Classic at Maryland International Raceway. 19 year-old rider Jeremy Teasley once again got the best of team boss Coby Adams, builder and tuner of the two blue Kawasaki ZX14s owned by Roger Starrette of South Carolina’s RS Motorsports.

Teasley kicked it off right, qualifying number one with a 7.91, while Adams qualified third with an 8.02. The two fought their way from opposite sides of the ladder to meet in the final for the third time, with Teasley setting the MPH record at 192 along the way. It was a close final, which both riders claimed was a less than perfect effort. “It was a little off,” Teasley said about his winning lap. “I slipped and wheelied, but got there first.” As he has each time he’s raced Adams in a final. “But he leaves first.”

“Barely,” said Adams, who doubles a sprint car driver. “I’m not gonna claim that one. We both messed up. If it’s not an .0-anything light, it’s not worth talking about. But it was a good, close race.”
As it should be for two seasoned riders on nearly identical ZX14’s. “Mine’s got bigger nitrous jets on it!” laughed Adams, who’s considerably beefier than flyweight jockey Teasley. “And it’s a little longer wheelbase, that’s it though.”
Starrette also owns the nitrous ZX14 built and tuned by Adams for Teasley in Pro Street. The long green bike, fresh off a win at the AMA Dragbike Atlanta race, was sporting a brand new Rob Muzzy-built titanium sidewinder in Maryland. But the bike was also carrying an electrical glitch, and pulled through the beams in round 2 of eliminations after qualifying fourth. “The Pro Street bike has a little short,” said crew chief Garron Miller. “The bike keeps cutting off and we’re not sure why. But we’ve got two weeks ‘til Martin, we’ll figure it out. We wanna change some stuff to make it easier for Jeremy to leave the line and make it more consistent, so we’ll be ready. This was definitely our race to win, this one. But it is what it is.”
Busy rider Teasley rode multiple classes and, combined with Grudge, about 20 bikes on the weekend. “I rode five or six classes,” said Teasley, who was also three for four in grudge matches.
All in all it was a great weekend in Maryland, with great weather and good crowds. “This facility is pretty impressive,” Adams said about MIR. “The bathrooms are clean, air conditioned, they probably even have a magazine rack in there somewhere, I don’t know!”
